Ecological mortar using dried and burnt WWTP sludge

In order to create alternatives for the disposal of sludge generated in wastewater treatment plants and contribute reducing environmental impacts by construction industry, aim this work was evaluate technical feasibility partially replacing cement production mortars produced at Bragança WWTP. The characterized relation pH, moisture, total solids, organic matter content, underwent different preparation processes (4) before being incorporated into mortar. M1: previously dried burnt 0.5 hour 300 °C 3 h 900 °C. M2: 24 105 M3: seven days solar exposure. M4: 15 d After preparation, it triturated mortar mixture; proportions sand water were 54 14%, respectively. slurry concentrations 0, 3, 5, 7 10%. specimens molded flexural compressive strength tests. specimen with 7% M1 obtained best resistance, surpassing standard; M2, M3, M4 treatments showed similar results. incorporation resulted within specification EN 998-1:2018 norm and, consequently, has feasibility.
